Appuntamento de Daniela Leonini

Come with me… behind the scenes at Maison & Objet

A project, inspiring encounters, and a space that redefines the dialogue between fashion and lifestyle

Dear readers,

This year, I wish for you to find your FLOW.
That precious, subtle, almost magical state where everything falls into place: your projects progress effortlessly, your relationships flourish with ease, and your mind dances gracefully between energy and serenity.

FLOW is more than just a word. It’s a vibration, an inner and outer movement. Inspired by yoga and meditation, it’s a state of being fully present, connected to yourself and the world around you. It’s not static rest but a continuous and graceful motion, carried by a light yet powerful energy.

* Thank you to Laetitia Bournazac, my daughter, for capturing the flow so beautifully with this GIF.

Thank you for being here; we are now a community of 530 readers sharing this monthly rendezvous. A growing community that inspires me each month to explore, share, and surprise.

This new year marks a turning point. The newsletter begins its third year with a new name: Appuntamento by Daniela Leonini, our monthly meeting place, where creativity, curiosity, and unexpected beauty converge.

To kick off 2025, I’m opening the doors to an exciting project: Flow of Fashion, a unique space I had the pleasure of designing for the Maison & Objet trade fair. Here, fashion and lifestyle come together, blurring the lines between clothingand objects to reimagine and inspire the retail of tomorrow.

Everything began last October when the Maison & Objet team invited me to design and curate their new exhibition space dedicated to the fusion of fashion and design, which I named Flow of Fashion. The project immediately resonated with me, as it embodies what I’m most passionate about: crafting spaces that spark curiosity and captivate with emotion.

With over 35 years of professional experience, I’ve always sought to redefine how brands engage with their customers. Flow of Fashion extends this vision: a space where innovation meets creativity, reimagining the relationship between clothing and objects.

For me, it was crucial to envision this new area as a living experience, featuring dynamic mannequins, reflective plays of light, and interactive solutions. The goal? To provide retailers—whether they own concept stores, fashion boutiques looking to incorporate design, or hotel and museum shops—with tangible, inspiring ideas to bring to their spaces.

Picture a space where fashion and objects engage in a dialogue to create a unique universe. It’s an invitation to see these everyday pieces differently, as part of a shared art of living, a conversation between styles and inspirations.

Today, in retail, these boundaries are fading, and the most inspiring boutiques have embraced this shift. Visionary concept stores like 10 Corso Como or Merci, where I’ve had the privilege of shaping chapters of my career, are prime examples.

To me, Flow of Fashion is a natural extension of the lessons I learned from inspiring mentors like François Dautresme at CFOC or Marie-France Cohen at Merci: creating spaces that tell a story, ignite curiosity, and most importantly, evoke emotions.

Here, every detail is designed to surprise and inspire:

• Dynamic mannequins stepping beyond static displays, brought to life in everyday scenes.

• Objects seamlessly integrated into these looks, reflecting the inseparable bond between fashion and lifestyle.

• And a breeze of innovation with Iris, our virtual muse animated through Artcare’s artificial intelligence. Iris represents the future of retail, embodying the dreams I hope to share in this space.

This space is like a family of characters brought together to inspire new ways of viewing style, crafting atmospheres, and imagining the shops of tomorrow. A journey through creativity and emotion, where every corner invites you to pause, observe, and perhaps even envision your own projects.

Each character within this space has a name, a personality, and a story. Why? Because now more than ever, we need to reconnect with humanity. These 11 mannequins are more than just figures—they represent contemporary lifestyles and values, like a family where each member could be your friend, your customer… or even yourself.

And here’s a playful twist: can you spot me? Yes, I’ll admit it—one of these characters is a little bit of me. Perhaps the concept store director? Or another figure carrying my values and stories? A “Where’s Waldo?” moment just for fun!

Behind it all is the idea of inspiring tomorrow’s communication:
Telling stories, embodying characters, humanizing a space… This is what brings stores to life today.

Imagine a world where your clients take photos, share these moments on social media, and extend your store’s story far beyond its walls. Because a space like Flow of Fashion isn’t just a scenography—it’s a wellspring of ideas to make your shops vibrant and unforgettable.

With Artcare, scenography is no longer just decoration: it engages, inspires, and redefines the in-store experience. A true revolution for the future of retail. I invite you to discover more through this video.

Since my early days in design and retail, I’ve always believed in creating moments filled with both emotion and generosity.

Join me on Sunday, January 19th at 2 PM at the What’s New? In Retail? space in hall 4 at Maison & Objet for “Creating meaningful moments: inspiring and building loyalty through fashion” During this workshop, we’ll explore how to transform a commercial space into a memorable destination where generosity and creativity are the guiding principles.

The idea? To go beyond simple transactions and build authentic connections by cultivating unforgettable moments of exchange and surprise. These moments, imbued with generosity and creativity, lie at the heart of Flow of Fashion’s scenography: stories to tell, worlds to share, and spaces where everyone can find a piece of themselves.

This workshop is a natural extension of my career journey, and I’m honored that Maison & Objet has once again entrusted me with spreading this message of humanity and creativity in service of brands and their clients.

Could 2025 be the year of beautiful projects?

For me, Flow of Fashion is much more than scenography. It’s an experience that brings together all the facets of what I’ve learned throughout my 35 years in retail, design, and creating meaningful experiences. This project reminds me of how much I love bringing spaces to life, where stories take shape, emotions guide visitors, and innovation opens up new perspectives.

My wish for 2025? To collaborate on more inspiring and ambitious projects. Whether it’s designing unique spaces, imagining disruptive concepts, or sharing my expertise with brands or venues seeking renewal, I’m ready to take on new challenges.

If this newsletter inspires you, feel free to share it, follow me on social media, or simply come and chat with me. I’ll be waiting for you at the Maison & Objet fair to discover Flow of Fashion in Hall 3 in person.
